Tired of 4 million irrelevant search results from Google, Yahoo, or MSN? To combat the problem, mySamTM MonitorTM has been introduced. A simple, hyper-targeted web search tool that scours a specific domain for a specific search-term. If it finds a match, it pushes out a notification - today an e-mail notification, but in future releases, a flash of a toolbar or widget could be the notification.
How it Works
mySam Monitor “crawls” a specific URL and searches for the target keywords. It is a great way to track the latest sports news, current events, and company information without sorting through dozens of irrelevant links and articles – web surfers know where to find the information, they just want someone to monitor the information for then.
For example, if you like the Red Sox and want to find everything Yahoo! publishes about them, simply enter "sports.yahoo.com/mlb" as the URL to search and "Red Sox" as your search term. mySam Monitor will then crawl the site every three hours (in future versions a consumer will be able to set how often a URL is monitored) and send back a link to any new articles it finds. If mySam Monitor doesn't find anything for 24 hours, it will send an email saying “nothing yet.” Repeat the search for ESPN, CNN, Boston Globe, etc. and you are sure not to miss a thing.
Getting Started
1) Simply enter your email address below, and click "Sign Up."
2) Then look for the authorization e-mail from Sam in your e-mail mailbox.
3) Click the link in the authorization e-mail. Once you return/refresh the mySam Monitor main/home page, the bottom of the page will have changed and you can enter your searches.
Enter as many URLs and search terms as you want. Keep in mind, the URL can be anything. A regular web page, a Google, Yahoo, or MSN search, or a web site's RSS feed.
For the “Beta” test, mySam Monitor has been “certified” for the items listed in the navigation on the left. See those specific cases by clicking on a link to the left. But feel free to use mySam Monitor on any URL. As the engine is tuned, it will be usable across a vast majority of the web.
